Because it keeps everyone pushing towards achieving a goal even when things may temporarily fall off the tracks.

4DX is important because it engages everyone to work as a team toward a WIG. When you map out your WIG, it gives everyone a role with lead metrics that allow you to focus on what’s most important beyond the whirlwind and be accountable for your efforts.

  3. Shawn Brook

4DX is a wake up call that is a powerful guide to focusing on the most critical part of each persons job and it shows how to tie everyone’s responsibilities together.

For me it’s valuable as it helps me overcome the three reasons for disengagement:

Namelessness. When people feel like they’re not individually important, they disengage. When you have a WIG, every single person plays a role. No one is anonymous.

Lack of relevance. When people feel that their work doesn’t contribute to anything, they disengage. With a WIG, every person assesses how keeping their commitments moves the lead and lag measures—everyone’s individual contribution is obvious.

Lack of quantification. When people can’t measure their helpfulness, they disengage. When you have a WIG, one of the agenda items is a review of the scoreboard.
